WikiLeaks: Julian Assange Misquoted by the Media

Julian Assange’s press conference was greatly misunderstood on Tuesday’s as people expected to get a “damaging” leak regarding Hillary Clinton’s election campaign. I myself was disappointed when the leaks never materialised in what was expected to be a press conference announcing the latest unpublished Clinton leaks. Like so many people I had believed that WikiLeaks was about to reveal information that would lead to “Clinton’s indictment“. The fact is WikiLeaks never made any such promises to reveal any leaks during this press conference which was scheduled in advance to celebrate WikiLeaks 10th anniversary. I was duped like so many others by the mainstream media who had misquoted Julian Assange and the independent media who parroted the mainstream narrative. I failed to fact check what had been reported since the information was being spread by so many different sources. With so many different sources reporting on the October Surprise it seemed a sure thing.

After the press conference I set about finding the interviews with Julian Assange with a view of creating a critical video of WikiLeaks and their failed ‘promise’ but what I instead found was that WikiLeaks had never made any promises to release information relating to the Clinton campaign at this press conference. The media had twisted and misused Julian Assange’s own words in order to fit their narrative and ideas of what they had wanted, what we all wanted. Interview upon interview one thing was made very clear. Assange was not commenting much on the upcoming leaks other than to tell each interviewee that he could not comment much on the leaks since Mr Assange was “not going to scoop” himself before WikiLeaks had a chance to publish.

Hannity attempted several times to get Mr Assange to give him information regarding these unpublished leaks but Mr Assange held out only saying about the leaks that it would be “significant” and that WikiLeaks are working to release the leaks soon. Megyn Kelly who also interviewed Mr Assange over the “October Surprise” was told that the leaks would be “significant” and that he had tens of thousands and possibly a hundred thousand pages relating to the US election campaign and that the information would come from “unexpected angles, quite interesting some even entertaining“. Despite this Megyn Kelly decided to twist Mr Assange’s words out of all proportion by her edited introduction to the interview which she had put together after conducting the interview. In this introduction to Part 1 of her interview with Assange she falsely claimed that Julian Assange had said “WikiLeaks is set to publish information that will not be helpful to Mrs Clinton and it may force her to respond“. In Part 2 of her interview which was broadcast the next day she also made the claim that Assange had stated that the upcoming leaks would be “damaging” to Mrs Clinton. In both Part 1 and Part 2 of the interviews Mr Assange never made any such claim. Those where not Mr Assange’s words.

In an interview with the New York Times, the interviewee claimed that Mr Assange had said he would release more “damaging material soon” on Clinton which “could or should get her indicted“. Mr Assange was quick to correct the reporter on this misquote but it demonstrated how the media had once again failed to correctly quote Mr Assange on the matter of the upcoming leaks. Apart from the mainstream media misquoting Mr Assange he was also misquoted by several independent outlets such as the Benjamin Dixon Show in which the host stated that “Julian Assange is scheduled to make a major announcement tomorrow (October 4th 2016)…is supposed to be an October surprise” according to Fox News. Another independent news outlet, Info Wars interviewed Roger Stone who claimed to have insider information regarding the “October surprise” and made the following statements in regards to that. “I am assured that the mother lode is coming Wednesday…I have reason to believe that it is devastating“. Of course Mr Assange never made any such statements and once again someone was presuming to speak on behalf of Mr Assange who never made any such claims regarding the upcoming leaks.

When it came time for the actual press conference people were understandably expecting to hear “devastating” and “damaging” information which would lead to Hillary Clinton being “indicted” and were disappointed by the fact Assange never delivered on promises that were made by others assuming to speak on Julian Assange’s behalf. This has caused people to assume that Assange broke his promise or sold out when in fact Mr Assange was true to his own words in everything he said. What is very clear is that WikiLeaks is set to publish leaks which will concern Hillary Clinton and the US Election campaign. Not only this but that WikiLeaks will also release “upcoming publications” regarding Google, mass surveillance, Oil, Arms, War and the US Elections and that WikiLeaks will publish these leaks once a week for the next ten weeks. Mr Assange stressed that he would not make the exact date and time known for these publications. True to his word Mr Assange as released this weeks leaks which are being called the “Podesta Emails“.

One major lesson to learn here is that despite how much you might trust one news agency over another at the end of the day one cannot really trust what is said by any news agency, mainstream or independent, until you hear directly from the source since it is clear these various news outlets have their own agenda and wish to “personalise” WikiLeaks publications to fit their agenda.

Wikileaks October Surprise Dropping Tuesday? Wikileaks Did Not Cancel Tuesday Announcement

October 2, 2016

Update: WikiLeaks reports that the Tuesday announcement will still take place as scheduled. However, instead of having Julian Assange give his announcement on the balcony of the embassy, the announcement will take place via a video conference which will air at a Berlin press conference. The press conference is slated to take place on Tuesday morning.

Original Story: WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was slated to give a highly anticipated announcement from the balcony of the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on Tuesday. However, MSNBC’s Jesse Rodriguez says that the announcement has been canceled by WikiLeaks over “security concerns.”

Fox News reports that Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks founder, has canceled his scheduled Tuesday announcement. Assange notes “security concerns” as the reason for canceling the big announcement but did not go into further detail. Though details about the announcement were not given to the public, it had been widely speculated that the announcement would be about the purported Hillary Clinton dump that Assange claims to have in his possession.

Assange: It’s Over Hillary, ‘October Surprise’ Biggest Leak To Date

August 8, 2016

Wikileaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange promised to release more damning emails about the Clinton Foundation, and warned he has enough evidence on Hillary Clinton making secret deals with an alleged Islamic State sponsor for the FBI to indict her. Asked by British journalist Afshin Rattansi on Saturday if he had “the email which will put Hillary Clinton behind bars,” Assange claimed to have 350 emails on a French transnational concrete company named Le Farge that allegedly paid ISIS to do business in regions controlled by the terror group. The report, by British political blog The Canary, showed the Clinton Foundation accepted upwards of $100,000 from the ISIS sponsoring company.

From 1990 to 1992, Clinton served on Lafarge’s Board of Directors. Under her tenure, Lafarge’s Ohio subsidiary was caught burning hazardous waste to fuel cement plants. Clinton defended the decision at the time. Then just before her husband, Bill Clinton, was elected president in 1992, Lafarge was fined $1.8 million by the Environmental Protection Agency for these pollution violations. Hillary Clinton had left the board of Lafarge in spring, just after her husband won the Democrat nomination. A year later, under Bill’s presidency, the Clinton administration reduced Lafarge’s EPA fine to less than $600,000. In the late 1980s, according to an archived investigative report in the American Spectator, Hillary Clinton was connected to Lafarge when the firm was involved in facilitating CIA support for Saddam Hussein’s secret weapons program.

Can Assange turn it around for Trump? Wikileaks boss WILL release ‘damaging information’ about Hillary tomorrow after initially cancelling ‘October Surprise’ speech from embassy balcony

October 4, 2016

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange cancelled a planned appearance to mark the 10th anniversary of his organization from the balcony of the Ecuadorian embassy in London over security fears on Monday. He had been planning to give a speech – amid claims he was about to release damaging information about Clinton which some claimed could be an ‘October Surprise’ which would swing the presidential election. However, Assange, who is wanted by Swedish authorities for questioning in connection with an alleged rape, will make an announcement via video link to an event in Berlin on Tuesday morning. In a tweet on Monday afternoon, WikiLeaks said Assange’s speech in London was moved to Berlin due to ‘specific information’ but did not elaborate further.

Donald Trump’s former right-hand man Roger Stone claimed the new WikiLeaks revelations would destroy Clinton’s campaign. In August this year, Assange told Fox News that he was holding information on Clinton which yielded ‘some quite unexpected angles, that are quite interesting, some even entertaining’. He said he would release the information before the November 8 election. Assange claimed the information could alter the election result, adding: ‘I think it’s significant. It depends on how it catches fire in the public and in the media.’ Meanwhile, a new report claims that Clinton once proposed a military drone strike to take out Assange in a bid to silence WikiLeaks. Clinton discussed the possible assassination while she was Secretary of State in a meeting with her staff in 2010 about how to prevent a WikiLeaks document dump dubbed ‘CableGate,’ TruePundit reports.

Trump backers realize they’ve been played as WikiLeaks fails to deliver October surprise

October 4, 2016

For weeks, backers of Republican nominee Donald Trump hyped the tantalizing possibility that the anti-secrecy organization WikiLeaks was on the verge of publishing a set of documents that would doom Hillary Clinton’s chances in November. “@HillaryClinton is done,” longtime Trump associate Roger Stone tweeted Saturday. “#Wikileaks.” The group’s founder, Julian Assange, did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm, suggesting to Fox News hosts that his scoops could upend the race with documents “associated with the election campaign, some quite unexpected angles, some quite interesting.”

The announcement by WikiLeaks that it would host a major news conference Tuesday only seemed to confirm that the bombshell was ready to burst. The pro-Trump, anti-Clinton media world rippled with fevered speculation. But if an October surprise about the Democratic nominee really is coming, it will have to wait a little longer. Over the course of two hours on Tuesday — with the world’s media and bleary-eyed Trump die-hards across the United States tuning in — Assange and other WikiLeaks officials railed against “neo-McCarthyist hysteria,” blasted the mainstream media, appealed for donations and plugged their books (“40 percent off!”).

Wikileaks Fails To Deliver An October Surprise As Hillary Says To Worry About Putin’s Meddling

October 5, 2016

Wikileaks’ Julian Assange’s  failure to release damaging material today from Hillary Clinton’s emails dashed hopes of a significant October Surprise from hacks of  her “private” email cache that she subsequently wiped clean. Given the purported close relationship between Wikileaks and the Kremlin, this suggests either that Putin has decided to hold damaging Clinton material for now or, less likely, that no Wkileaks supplier has hacked them. Assange argues that damaging Clinton material will be released before the elections, but not just now.

The massive email cache that Hillary ordered destroyed almost a year ago remains one of the last great mysteries of her email scandal. These very documents may be in the possession of foreign powers, and may contain harmful, embarrassing, or incriminating materials that have the potential to alter the outcome of the 2016 election or her conduct as US President. My analysis suggests that emails concerning the Clinton Foundation were automatically classified as “personal.” “Inner sanctum” emails exchanged among clintonmail.com users were likely classified as “personal” as well. Both categories would have been destroyed when the 33,000 personal emails were wiped clean. There is no evidence that any of them have been recovered by forensic means.
